DOT Compliance

DOT Compliance

Whether you are an owner-operator, small, medium or large fleet owner of a trucking business, DOT compliance is vital for all drivers and companies. Taylor Made Testing Service helps owner-operators, small, medium or large fleet companies following the U.S. Department of Transportation’s drug and alcohol testing rules and regulations by providing convenient, cost-efficient services to clients across the country. Our goal is to make compliance easy for our clients and to remain compliant with DOT drug and alcohol testing programs.

Who Needs DOT Compliance Services?

Enrollment in a drug testing consortium is a requirement for DOT compliance if you or your company operates a vehicle or vehicles that require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to operate and meets one or more of the following criteria:

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating(GVWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more
  • Gross Combination Weight Rating(GCWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more
  • Transporting 16 Passengers or More
  • Transporting Hazardous Materials

How Do I Become DOT Compliant?

Enrollment in a Drug Testing Consortium

The first step in becoming DOT compliant is enrolling in a drug testing consortium. Once enrollment has been completed, you will receive an official Certificate of Enrollment and instructions on how to complete your drug and alcohol tests, if needed.

Meet Drug Testing Requirements

Pre employment drug testing and random annual drug testing are both required for individuals and companies to remain DOT compliant.

Maintain a Drug & Alcohol Workplace Policy

The Department of Transportation requires all trucking companies maintain a drug and alcohol policy (often called a Drug Free Workplace Program) that provides written policies, testing procedures, treatment information, and other resources for employees.

Importance of Being DOT Compliant

Maintaining a drug and alcohol testing policy that meet the standards for DOT compliance will keep companies or owner operators from incurring fines, suspensions, and business closures, but more importantly, DOT compliance is an effective way to ensure that employees and members of the public are safe at all times. Through DOT and FMCSA-approved drug testing, educational training and materials, and the development of comprehensive Drug Free Workplace programs, Taylor Made Testing Service helps companies prevent dangerous behavior that could lead to financial disaster.
